Cross Country Teams, Individuals Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

ATHENS, Ga. --- Both Bulldog cross country teams have earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors for the 14thstraight year.

In addition, junior sisters Jessica Drop and Samantha Drop garnered All-Academic Individual honors for their performances in the classroom and finishes at the 2019 NCAA South Regional.

Individuals earn All-Academic honors by having at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and finishing in the top 25 or top 10 percent at Regionals or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.  Teams earn the honor by finishing with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Lady Bulldogs have a 3.55 GPA and finished seventh at the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla., on Nov. 15.  The Georgia men posted a 3.30 GPA and were 13that the Regional.  The Bulldog men finished with the top GPA among all sports at UGA at the conclusion of the fall semester for the sixth semester in a row.

Jessica Drop, a native of Durham, Conn., earned her third consecutive All-Region accolade after taking third individually at the NCAA South Regional for the third year in a row.  She is majoring in Cellular Biology and has a 3.92 GPA.  Drop finished the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships with the second All-America certificate in the sport of her career.

Samantha Drop, also of Durham, collected her third All-Region certificate since 2016, including her 2017 NCAA South Region title. She is earning her degree in Nutritional Sciences and has a 3.99 GPA.  Drop advanced to her second NCAA meet in cross this past fall.

The Drop sisters and their teammates compete at this weekend's Razorback Invitational starting on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
