
Summer League Update on The Bulldogs

ATHENS-----There are 15 Bulldogs playing in summer collegiate baseball leagues across the country, and here is the first look at how they are doing.Â
Â
Alaska League
                  Catcher Shane Marshall, outfielder/infielder Chaney Rogers and infielder Cole Tate are playing for the Anchorage Bucs who lead the wood bat league with an 11-4 mark. Tate leads the trio in batting at .250 with a home run and five RBI. Rogers ranks third on the club with nine RBI.

Cape Cod League
                  Outfielder/infielder Riley King, a 26thround draft pick of the Atlanta Braves earlier this month, is playing for Yarmouth-Dennis in Yarmouth, Mass. He is off to a fast start with the Red Sox after reporting this past Saturday. He is batting .400 (4-for-10) with three runs scored and an RBI in his first three games.

Coastal Plain League
                  Georgia newcomer Garrett Blaylock, a 6-3, 215-pound native of Asheville, N.C., has been chosen to be the starting third baseman on the CPL Select Team, set to take on the USA Collegiate National Team on Monday, July 1 at 4 p.m. ET at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C. A committee comprised of league coaches, league officials and Major League scouts selected the team. Blaylock, who plays for the Forest City (N.C.) Owls, leads the league with eight doubles while batting .362 with four home runs and 16 RBI. Last season, he played for St. Johns River State College in Florida.
                  Additionally, pitchers Garrett Brown (Macon Bacon) and Jack Gowen (Savannah Bananas) are playing in the CPL.Â

Great Lakes League
                  Outfielder Randon Jernigan is playing for the Lima (Ohio) Locos and ranks second on the team in batting at .379 with a triple, two RBI and six stolen bases.

New England Collegiate League
                  Outfielder Connor Tate is playing for the Sanford (Maine) Mainers and batting .276 with a double and three RBI in his first eight games.

Northwoods League
                  Outfielder Ben Anderson, who sat out the 2019 season after transferring from Furman, is a member of the Madison (Wis.)  Mallards who have a league-best 19-8 record. In 26 games, he is batting .301 with five doubles, two triples, a home run and 11 RBI. Meanwhile, outfielder Kaden Fowler is batting .188 with a pair of doubles and four RBI for the Willmar (Minn.) Stingers.

Sunbelt League
                  Pitchers Darryn Pasqua (Alpharetta Aviators) and Riley Crean (Gwinnett Tides) are playing in the Atlanta area. Pasqua is 1-0 with a 1.28 ERA and one complete game in two starts, tallying 12 strikeouts and only one walk in 14 innings. Crean has pitched five scoreless innings over a span of three appearances with no walks and eight strikeouts.

USA Collegiate Baseball National Team Training Camp
Pitchers Emerson Hancock and Cole Wilcox have been invited to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team training camp, which runs from June 27 to July 1 in Cary, N.C. The roster will be trimmed to 26 players in preparation for their numerous international series in July. The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team will participate in series of four intrasquad exhibition games and a game against the Coastal Plain League Select before announcing a 26-man roster prior to the 8th USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series that will take place July 2-6 in Cary, Charlotte, Durham and Hickory, North Carolina. Team USA's 26-man roster will then travel to Taiwan for the 19th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series after which USA Baseball will announce a final 24-man roster to compete in the 43rd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series from July 16-21 in Japan. Wilcox spent the last couple of weeks in the Cape Cod League playing for the Orleans Cardinals before heading to Cary. He made two starts, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in eight innings with six walks and 10 strikeouts.
