Tony Baldwin Named to USA Softball U-19 Women’s National Team Staff

OKLAHOMA CITY – On Monday afternoon, USA Softball announced the coaching staff for the 2019 U-19 Women's National Team. Georgia associate head coach Tony Baldwin has been named to the staff as an assistant coach.
Baldwin, who is currently in his fifth season with the Bulldogs, will make his first appearance on the USA Softball U19 WNT staff. Cindy Ball-Malone (Head Coach at UCF) and Tim Walton (Head Coach at Florida) will also serve as assistant coaches on the staff under head coach Heather Tarr (Head Coach at Washington). The U-19 team will look to become the first, three peat U-19 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's World Cup.
"I am honored to be selected to work with the U19 Women's National Team this summer," said Baldwin. "Like the players, it has always been a dream of mine to be able to represent my country in competition. I am looking forward to spending the summer with Coach Tarr and the rest of the staff to prepare this team to be at its best at the U-19 World Cup. What I am most looking forward to is investing in the players and helping them in their journey through softball."
Under Baldwin, Georgia has topped the Southeastern Conference in hitting each of the last two seasons, recording the top batting average. This season, Georgia currently leads the country in scoring with 8.6 runs per game. The Bulldogs rank third in slugging (.628), eighth in on base percentage (.448), 10thin home runs per game (1.45), and 11thin batting average (.346).
