Erik Grevelius Signs NLI With Georgia Tennis

ATHENS, Ga. — Erik Grevelius, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, has signed a national letter of intent with the Georgia men's tennis team, head coach Manuel Diaz announced on Wednesday.
Grevelius (pronounced Grah-vail-ee-us) will join the Bulldogs during the 2019 fall season as a freshman. He is the second signee of Georgia's 2019 class, joining Bradenton, Florida native and top-10 prospect Tyler Zink, who signed back in November.
"We see great potential in Erik," head coach Manuel Diaz said. "He has had great results in both singles and doubles and has an exceptional serve and volley game that should improve throughout his college career. He comes from a great family and is a nice young man who will will fit in well and flourish in our program."
Grevelius brings an impressive resume to Athens, with a career-high International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking of 92. . He has won 12 Swedish national championships (three coming in singles, seven in doubles and two in team competition). Grevelius has played qualifying in three junior grand slams — the Australian Open, the US Open and Wimbledon.
He also finished runner-up in the European junior doubles championship and finished in the singles semifinals in Grade A ITF juniors in Japan. Grevelius won Grade 1 and 2 doubles titles in Thailand and Lithuania.
The signing period for tennis runs from Nov. 14, 2018-Aug. 1, 2019.
