Chipman Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

ATHENS, Ga. ---Â Junior Caroline Chipman of the University of Georgia soccer team has been honored as a CoSIDA Academic Third Team All-American, it was announced Thursday.Â

This marks the tenth honor of its kind for the soccer program and first since 2013. Â

A finance major from Atlanta, Chipman was the winner of the 2019-20 Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award for the female athlete with the highest GPA entering senior year, based on academic hours rather than eligibility.  She is enrolled in the UGA Honors Program and was inducted into L.E.A.D., the UGA Athletic Association's Leadership Academy, for 2019-20.  She has earned Dean's List and Presidential Scholar honors on top of being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Honor Rollevery semester. Additionally, Chipman earned the 2017-18 UGA Scholar-Athlete Award for Soccer after having the highest GPA for the year among the team. Â

On the field Chipman is a staple of the Georgia defense, which ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference for fewest goals allowed (16) and tied for fifth in shutouts (7).  She started all 19 games this season, tallying a total of 1504 minutes, the fourth most among Bulldogs, and dished out one assist in Georgia's 5-1 win at Missouri. Â
