December 14, 2019 | Gymnastics

ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia gymnastics team hosted the families of Operation Teammate in the Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Center on Saturday.

The families were invited to watch practice, get a tour of the gymnastics facilities, and play games with the gymnasts.

Operation Teammate strives to provide memorable sporting experiences to military children through Impactful Athlete Interaction.

"It was really special to welcome the families of Operation Teammate into the gym today," Georgia head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. "You can see that not only the children, but also our gymnasts really enjoyed the interaction. We hope we were able to provide inspiration and a memorable experience during the holiday season. It was an honor to have them here and I appreciate the sacrifices these families make for our country."

GymDogs fans have the opportunity to see the team before the official start to the season in the annual "First Look", which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia opens the 2020 season on January 3 at the Critique Classic Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida, against Bridgeport, Iowa, and Oregon State, before welcoming the LSU Tigers to Athens on January 10.
