GymDogs Conduct Intrasquad Meet before Thanksgiving

ATHENS, Ga. ---The University of Georgia gymnastics team held an intrasquad meet on Tuesday before taking a few days off for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Similar to the format of the First Look, the GymDogs split into the Red and Black teams to compete on all for events. Although the Black team earned the higher score for the day, the GymDogs combined the best five scores from each event to total a 197.150.
"Today was great," Georgia head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. "This team works really hard day in and day out. This was a great way for us to see where we are heading into the season. This team has a big vision for 2020 and when this team is at their best they are unstoppable. They have a lot of talent and a lot of heart. I'm excited to see them maintain from here as we get closer to the season and then grow from there."
All gymnasts on the roster, with the exception of Emily Schild who is recovering from injury, competed at least one event.
Senior Rachel Dickson and sophomore Mikayla Magee competed all-around for the Black team, while senior Sabrina Vega and sophomore Rachael Lukacs competed in all four events for the Red team. Vega scored a 9.9 on vault and a 9.95 with new elements to her floor routine and Magee scored 9.9s on beam and floor.
GymDogs fans can watch the team before the official start to the season in the annual "First Look", which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 17 at 6:30 in Stegeman Coliseum.
Georgia opens the season on January 3 at The Critique Classic Invitational in Kissimmee, Florida, before welcoming the LSU Tigers to Athens on January 10.
