Arseneault Signs With Georgia
November 18, 2019 | Women's Tennis
ATHENS---- The Georgia women's tennis program announced Monday the signing of Ariana Arseneault to a national letter of intent to attend UGA and compete with the Bulldogs next season.
A native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, she is one of the top international juniors. Arseneault is the daughter of Serge and Anastasia Arseneault.Â
Â
"We're thrilled to welcome Ariana to Georgia and the Bulldog family" said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. "She is an amazing young lady. We look forward to having her in Athens, and with her work ethic, she is destined for success in the classroom and on the court."
Currently, Arseneault trains with Mike Hall at ACE Tennis in Burlington, Ontario, Canada and previously trained at the National Centre in Toronto. She had notable performances this past summer including posting a win over the 10th-ranked ITF World junior player along with advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITF J1 event in Repentigny, Canada. In that tournament, she registered wins over three world ranked players including a straight set victory over Zhuoxuan Bai (China), who is currently ranked No. 27 in the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Rankings. Arseneault captured two wins in qualifying at the ITF 80K event in Granby, Quebec to advance to the main draw. Then, she collected a win over WTA No. 172 Rebecca Marino.
Â
Also of note, Arseneault participated in the 2019 Rogers Cup Qualifying event after winning a pre-qualifying tournament. The Rogers Cup is a prestigious professional tournament organized by Tennis Canada with only Wimbledon and the US Open having longer histories than this major Canadian stop. Tennis Canada is a non-profit, national sport association.
