Bulldogs To Tee It Up In NCI At Colonial

ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 10-ranked Georgia men's golf team will continue the fall portion of its schedule next week in the Fifth Annual Nike Collegiate Invitational.
The Bulldogs will play Sunday through Tuesday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The course, which plays host to PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge, has been set up as a par 70 measuring 7,209 yards.
Georgia and host TCU will be joined by Arizona, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, Southern Cal, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Washington.
The Bulldogs will be paired in the first round on Sunday with Ohio State and Washington. The tournament will open at 8:45 a.m., and results can be found at Golfstat.com.
Georgia will use a lineup of redshirt junior Tye Waller, juniors Will Chandler and Spencer Ralston, sophomore Davis Thompson, and freshman Trent Phillips. Phillips is averaging 67.00 on the young campaign, followed by Thompson at 69.67, Ralston at 70.00, and Waller at 70.67. Chandler will be making his season debut in the Nike Collegiate Invitational.
The Bulldogs opened the season with a second-place showing in The Carmel Cup earlier this month.
Phillips was in the 60s for all three rounds of The Carmel Cup as he debuted in third place individually. His second-round 8-under 64 tied the second-best loop in Georgia history, while his 15-under tournament matched the third-lowest total in school annals.
After the Nike Collegiate Invitational, the Bulldogs will play in the Jack Nicklaus Invitational Oct. 8-9, the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate Oct. 15-16, and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational Nov. 2-4.
