UGA Coaches Wear Coach to Cure MD Patches

September 27, 2018 | Football

ATHENS, Ga.-- During Saturday's Georgia-Tennessee matchup, head coach Kirby Smart and his coaching staff will wear special patches on their left sleeves to raise awareness for Coach to Cure MD, the national game day charity project of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

Coach to Cure MD seeks to raise awareness and money to fund research for Duchenne (doo-SHEN) Muscular Dystrophy – the most prolific genetic killer of young men. This progressive disorder causes loss of muscle function and independence, usually leaving those affected by it unable to walk in their teens. This year marks the project's ninth year.

The Coach to Cure MD project involves college football coaches at all levels across America. Coaches and their staffs will join the fight to cure MD by wearing patches displaying the project's logo during games this weekend and next.
