Bulldogs Set for Pair of Fall Events

September 20, 2018 | Men's Tennis

ATHENS, Ga. — Members of the University of Georgia men's tennis team will take part in two separate fall tournaments this weekend, with one group heading to the Battle in the Bay Classic and the other making the short trek to compete in the South Carolina Fall Invitational.

Emil Reinberg, Jan Zielinski, Robert Loeb and Alex Diaz will travel with Coach Manny Diaz to San Francisco for the Battle in the Bay. Alex Phillips, Sam Dromsky, Blake Croyder and Britton Johnston will go with associate head coach Jamie Hunt to the South Carolina Fall Invitational in Columbia, S.C. Both events will run Friday through Sunday.

Out in California, Loeb, Reinberg and Zielinski each received a first-round bye in singles and will compete beginning with the Round of 32. Georgia's doubles tandems will feature Diaz/Reinberg as well as Loeb/Zielinski.

The Bulldogs enter this weekend's events with one fall tournament under their belts. During the 51st Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sept. 7-10, Loeb advanced all the way to the finals and Zielinski made it to the semifinals of the main singles draw. In doubles, the tandem of Dromsky and Phillips earned the DII doubles title following an impressive week.

In the latest Oracle/ITA national rankings, Zielinski leads Georgia with a No. 22 singles rankings, while Walker Duncan follows at No. 26 and Reinberg is at No. 38.
