ATHENS, Ga. --- Freshman goalkeeper Emory Wegener has been named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the week after Georgia's 3-1 win over Arkansas in the SEC opener on Thursday.

The Johns Creek native registered five saves in her first conference game as a Bulldog and was a few minutes shy of a shutout due to a penalty kick opportunity.

The young Bulldog has started all nine games for Georgia, leads the SEC with 44 saves and has earned three shutouts.

Wegener and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday, September 20 against the Missouri Tigers in Athens.  The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and admission to the Turner Soccer Complex is free. Georgia continues SEC action with its first conference road contest on Sunday, September 23 at Texas A&M.
