UGA Cross Country Picked To Finish Second At SECs

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia women's cross country team has been picked to finish second at the 2018 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships in Auburn, Ala., on Friday, Oct. 26, as decided by a vote of the league's head coaches.

The Lady Bulldogs finished second at the 2017 SEC meet and were also the runner-up at last year's NCAA South Regional, which secured them a spot at the NCAA Championships.  The Georgia women, who return all five of their regular scorers from last season, have also been picked second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region poll and 19thin the group's national poll.

The Georgia men were sixth at the 2017 SEC Cross Country Championships held at the UGA Golf Course in Athens and have been picked to take eighth at this year's meet.  The Bulldogs have also been picked to finish ninth in the South Region poll after finishing in that exact spot at last year's meet.  UGA graduated four of their regular 2017 scorers.

The Arkansas women were picked to win their sixth consecutive SEC cross title while the Alabama men were voted as the preseason pick to win their first conference crown since 2009.

Georgia opens its 2018 campaign at the Charlotte Opener in Concord, N.C., on Friday, Aug. 31.  The men will run in their 5k race at 6 p.m. and the women will follow in their 5k at 6:30 p.m. at the Frank Liske Park.
