MCGARITY'S MINUTES - JULY 25

It's July, it's hot, preparations for the 2018-19 school year are in full swing and it's only 38 days until the Austin Peay kickoff on September 1, 2018 in Sanford Stadium!Â
It has been a very busy and productive July for our student-athletes and staff. Between summer camps for youngsters in virtually all sports, to current student-athlete off-season summer workouts to facility construction and renovation projects, we continue to prepare for the upcoming 2018-19 academic year.
We are nearing the finish line on the west end zone project in historic Sanford Stadium. We are on time, on budget and getting very anxious to welcome over 92,000 fans to Sanford Stadium. The new spaces we have created with this project will be enjoyed by everyone attending our home games.Â
From the new general public areas at ground level, to the new locker room and support spaces, to the new 500-seat recruiting lounge on the second floor, to the new plaza at bridge level --- and the newly renovated bridge as well – those utilizing these areas will enjoy an enhanced experience.
Our brand new video board was unveiled for the 2018 G-Day game, and the new sound system has been fine-tuned for the season as well. As you navigate through the stadium, you will notice new branding and signage on selected walls and concrete pillars – taking an idea we saw inside Notre Dame Stadium last year – to celebrate the University of Georgia's remarkable history. We have also refinished all of the red chair backs on the 200 level of the stadium, which now present a consistent color of red throughout these club level areas.
Our efforts directed at enhanced customer service will also officially start on the season-opener as the SilverDawg ambassadors will be located in strategic areas throughout campus and the stadium on game day. It's one more idea we brought home from Notre Dame, and we are very thankful for those who have volunteered to serve UGA in this manner.
Be on the lookout for "Countdown to Kickoff 2018" information that will be released frequently leading up to kickoff on all of our social media outlets as well as www.georgiadogs.com. The content of these messages will certainly be of interest to all Bulldogs, and it will get everyone hyped for the coming season!
Lastly, a special shout out to two great Bulldogs. John Isner had a outstanding run to the Wimbledon semifinals and is now ranked #8 in the world ATP Rankings. Kevin Kisner made it an exciting weekend at The Open in Carnoustie, Scotland by finishing tied for 2nd. We look forward to seeing their continued success down the road.Â
