Volleyball Adds Opposite Hitter Mallory Hernandez

April 11, 2018 | Volleyball

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia head volleyball coach Tom Black has announced the signing of opposite hitter Mallory Hernandez.

"We are thrilled to add Mallory as the final piece to a very strong recruiting class," Black said. "Mallory can hit with power on both pins and has been very well trained by her club and high school coaches. Even more than that, her work ethic jumped out to me as soon as I saw her in person for the first time. She is someone who loves to play, loves to compete, and is hungry to get better every time she steps foot on the court. We could not be more excited to get Mallory on campus along with Sage and Kayla. Her future is bright."

Hernandez, a native of Fishers, Indiana, was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Fishers High School. She is a Team Indiana All-Star, was an AAU All-American in 2016, a three-time HCC All-Conference honoree and Fishers High School Offensive MVP (2014, 2016, 2017), and an Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association (IHSVCA) Second Team All-State and All-District honoree in 2017. She was also named Academic All-State as a senior in 2017.

In club, her Munciana team took third-place at nationals in 2016 and a national championship in 2017. Her current team Munciana Samurai has earned a #1 club team ranking in the country in 2018.

Mallory is the daughter of Michelle and Henry Hernandez and has six younger siblings, Luke, Aaron, Margo, Caleb, Marina, and Helmina. She is currently undecided on a field of study at Georgia.

Hernandez joins fellow outside hitter Kayla Rivera (Ventura, Calif.) and middle blocker Sage Naves (Agoura Hill, Calif.) as a member of 2018 signing class.
