Gould-Jokic Named to the ITA National Team Indoor All-Tournament Team
ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Mariana Gould and freshman Katarina Jokic of the Georgia women's tennis team earned All-Tournament Team – No. 2 Doubles honors for play in the 2018 ITA Division I National Women's Team Indoor Championships announced Thursday, as voted on by the 16 participating head coaches.
The Bulldogs' duo, ranked No. 18 in ITA doubles, went 3-0 including two doubles-point clinchers. Highlighting the weekend was a win over the second-ranked tandem in the nation, Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitylin McCarthy of Duke.
During dual play, Gould and Jokic improved to a perfect 6-0, finishing every match played thus far. On the season, the twosome holds a team-best 18-3 record overall with the most dual wins.
Gould and Jokic become the third Bulldog duo to receive All-Tournament honors in the ITA National Indoors since the awards started in 2009. Past winners include Lilly Kimbell and Maho Kowase at No. 3 doubles (2012) and Silvia Garcia and Caroline Brinson at No. 2 doubles (2016).
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs (5-1) shift to the outdoor portion of the schedule, which begins with a match at No. 7 Georgia Tech next Friday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
