Dogs’ Dates With Tech Set For ’19, ’20
ATHENS, Ga. — The dates for matchups between the Georgia Bulldogs and arch-rival Georgia Tech for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons are set, with both games scheduled for when schools are in session and students are on campus.
Next season, the Bulldogs will host the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, November 20 at Stegeman Coliseum. The following year, Georgia will travel to McCamish Pavilion on Thursday, November 19.
In 194 all-time matchups between the intrastate rivals, only twice have they met prior to Thanksgiving, during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. Tech is the Bulldogs' second most-frequent foe. The only opponent Georgia has played against more is Florida (217 games).
For a large part of the UGA-GT series, the teams met multiple times. From 1924-25 through 1981-82, the Bulldogs faced off two or more times during every season. Beginning in 1983-84, the rivals squared off at The Omni in Atlanta for 12 consecutive years. The matchup returned to campus sites in 1995-96 and has remained there since.
The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets will square off this Saturday at noon in Atlanta. That contest will be televised by ESPNU.
