Bulldogs Edged By Clemson In Nicklaus Invitational

DUBLIN, Ohio --- The 10th-ranked Georgia men's golf team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 13 Clemson in the final match of the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at Muirfield Village Golf Club on Tuesday.

Freshman Trent Phillips recorded a 5&4 victory over Clemson's Bryson Nimmer. Phillips held a 1-hole edge at the turn, then claimed Nos. 10, 11, 13 and 14 to swing the match. Redshirt junior Tye Waller picked up a 3&2 decision over the Tigers' Kyle Cottram. Wins at Nos. 13 and 14 propelled Waller, who went 2-0 in his Nicklaus Invitational matches.

Also on Monday, junior Spencer Ralston fell 3&2 to Turk Pettit, freshman Will Kahlstorf lost 2-up to William Nottingham in a match that was all square through 16, junior Will Chandler dropped a 2&1 decision to Zack Gordon, and sophomore Davis Thompson was topped 1-up on the final hole by Coleman Self.

The Bulldogs will return to action Oct. 15-16 in the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.
