Day 1 Complete at ITA All-America Championships

ATHENS, Ga. — Two singles victories highlight the Georgia men's tennis team's first day at the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America Qualifiers in Tulsa, Okla.
Due to weather in the area, the Bulldogs got a later than expected start on the singles courts but came out strong at each match. Both Georgia players advanced to the second round with a pair of quality wins.
Emil Reinberg ousted Sean Hill from BYU, 7-6, 6-3, before Jan Zielinski took down 29th-ranked Yuya Ito from Texas, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Reinberg and Zielinski will play in second round action Friday, with the Round of 16 and quarterfinals set for Saturday.
"Emil and Jan both won hard fought matches today," associate head coach Jamie Hunt said. "Very pleased with how they responded after finding themselves in a hole early on. They were both tough and resilient which have always been characteristics of this program. They are eager and excited to get back at it tomorrow against two challenging opponents."
After a hard-fought match, Georgia's doubles pair of Zielinski and Loeb eventually fell to the fourth-ranked duo of Billy Rowe and Cameron Klinger from Vanderbilt, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
"Jan and Robert lost a tough one to a very good No. 2 seeded team," Hunt said. "They didn't play their best and still almost found a way to turn it around."
