Caliya Robinson Selected for Katrina McClain Award Watch List

October 25, 2018 | Women's Basketball

ATHENSCaliya Robinson, a senior forward on the Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team, has been named to the 2019 Katrina McClain Award Watch List, putting her name among the nation's top 20 power forwards.

The Marietta, Georgia native enters her final year in Athens just 80 blocks shy of breaking the school record for career blocked shots (297 by Tawana McDonald, 1998-2002). Robinson, who finished as one of five finalists for the Katrina McClain award last season, is the only returning SEC player to rank in the top-20 in scoring, rebounding, blocks and steals in 2017-18.

"I am happy for Caliya, not only for being named one of the top-20 power forwards in the nation, but for being considered for an award named after one of the best Lady Bulldogs and one of the top women's basketball players of all time," head coach Joni Taylor said. "The sky is the limit for Caliya. She is someone who has so much potential, and I am looking forward to watching her grow even more in her senior season."

The Selection Committee for the Katrina McClain Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2019 Katrina McClain Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Ms. McClain-Pittman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. Fans will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist at www.hoophallawards.com

The winner of the 2019 Katrina McClain Power Forward Award will be revealed on an ESPN platform during the 2019 Women's Final Four in Tampa, Florida.
