Quick Chat: Caroline Chipman

Caroline Chipman didn't need long to make her presence felt on the Georgia soccer team. Four games into her career, the freshman from Atlanta already has a goal and an assist, including the game-winning goal in the Bulldogs' win at Charlotte last week.
Normally an offensive-minded midfielder, Chipman has been playing some fullback this season, which is just one of the adjustments she's had to make since arriving in Athens. She sat down for a quick chat following Wednesday's practice and here's some of what she had to say:
Frierson: You've been a Georgia student-athlete for a few weeks now — has anything surprised you about the experience or has it been about what you anticipated?
Chipman: It's surprises me how busy our schedule is. It's almost like you go from one place to another, but in a way that's good because I like organization and structure.
Frierson: What's the most exciting or unusual thing you did this summer?
Chipman: I didn't really do much. I really can't think of anything fun I did, because we came here early. I went to the lake one weekend, and that was the most exciting thing. That was really fun.
Frierson: What's the most creative thing you do, or what's something creative you wish you could do?
Chipman: I wish I could sing really well. That would be nice.
Frierson: Is there somebody specific you wish you could sing like?
Chipman: I love Taylor Swift, but, no, I kind of just like singing in general.
Frierson: Where would you go if you were given all the time and money you needed to travel anywhere in the world?
Chipman: Probably Bora Bora, because it just seems like the prettiest place on Earth.
Frierson: Take me through your first collegiate goal. How did that feel?
Chipman: It felt amazing, but it was really unexpected. I was not expecting to score, so I was excited but surprised at the same time.
Frierson: Have you already learned anything about yourself in the short time you've been here?
Chipman: I've learned that I can be a defender, because I've never played defense before. I learned that.
Frierson: What was the toughest part of that switch, curbing the instinct to push forward on the attack?
Chipman: Yeah, I like to attack a lot. Outside back entails some attacking, but it's hard to hold back sometimes, because you've got to stay and cover your area.
Frierson: If you could eat anything for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Chipman: Pasta, I love pasta. I really like the rigatoni with butter and cheese.
Frierson: Is there a food item you wish would disappear forever?
Chipman: Not particularly; I like most foods. I don't really like fish, so maybe they could disappear forever. No, that would be sad.
Frierson: What's the best live performance or event that you've ever seen?
Chipman: Taylor Swift in concert, the 1989 tour. It was incredible, the best time of my life. It's just crazy, how well she performs, and then there's a lot of lights and techie stuff with it.
Frierson: Who's the funniest person on the team?
Chipman: There are so many funny people on the team, but I'll say (goalkeeper Jessie Harvey) is the funniest, just because I like her humor and her sarcasm. We've got the same kind of sense of humor.
