INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Georgia's 800-yard freestyle relay came in seventh on Wednesday to start the 2017 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.

The quartet of Meaghan Raab, Veronica Burchill, Kylie Stewart and Meryn McCann stopped the clock in 6:58.18 to place seventh and earn 24 points. Raab led off the relay in 1:44.12, setting her personal best.

"That was a good start to the meet for us," Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. "The relay was seeded ninth, so we moved up a couple of spots and reached the podium. This meet will be about that for us, finding ways to move up in races. We've trained well for this and we're ready to roll."

Stanford stands first after one day of competition with 40 points, followed by California in second with 34, Michigan in third with 32, Texas in fourth with 30, Virginia in fifth with 28 and Kentucky in sixth with 26.

The NCAAs will begin in earnest on Thursday with the 500 freestyle, the 200 individual medley, the 50 freestyle, the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays, and 1-meter diving. Prelims start at 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6 p.m.

Thursday's sessions will be streamed live here. Live results can be found here.
