Brittany Rogers has claimed a national title at Georgia and performed on the Olympic stage twice. Now to tie up her career, her goal is to compete at World Championships this coming October in Montreal.

Rogers is continuing with what she knows best, artistic gymnastics. While that may sound unfamiliar to some, it's the official term for what encompasses vault, bars, beam and floor.

The first step to getting to Worlds is a competition this weekend called Elite Canada.

"It's basically a verification process for all national team members for Gymnastics Canada to solidify their spot on Team Canada," said Rogers. "Then they sign out assignments. So depending on how I do this weekend, that determines which competitions I'll be in this year up until Worlds."

Rogers has been using her final year at Georgia and its facilities in order to prepare her for this upcoming weekend. In the Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Center, Rogers is "doing her own thing," enabling her to focus on what she needs to on her own time. Rogers' main focus for this weekend is on her bar routine.

"Bars is my ticket to World Championships to be on that team because I have the best chance of getting into a final," said Rogers. "I think that's kind of what they're looking for. Any gymnast that has the chance of making the top-8 on an event is a finalist."

Even though Rogers is around her old Georgia coaches, their focus is the current Gymdogs. She knows, however, that they are still there as a resource to correct a mistake or give her support when she needs it. Rogers also stays in close contact with her coaches from Canada.

"I have two coaches back at home and they email me every week," said Rogers. "They email me my conditioning program and my workouts for the week. Sometimes I'll video tape my routines and send them to them."

She finds the use of technology to be amazing when it comes to how quickly errors in routines can be remedied. When Rogers called one of her coaches, the coach answered on her Apple Watch and was able to give Rogers a correction on vault right then and there.

Rogers will see some of her old teammates when she heads to competition this weekend. Members of Canada's Olympic team from Rio this past summer will be in attendance as well as girls she grew up competing with.

"I'm looking forward to that because they're like family," said Rogers. "They're like my little sisters because I'm 'so old.' It's nice going back and being a leader again like I was last year for this team."

It's safe to say Rogers has been a leader in her time at Georgia and while representing Canada at the Olympics. Her final goal is to do it again one more time on her home country. It would be quite a way to tie up her gymnastic career.

"That's why I'm doing it to end on a high note," said Rogers. "To represent my country on home soil at World Championships because they're in Montreal, Canada, it would be a dream come true. It would be like a mic drop. I would just be so thrilled and that's kind of my ultimate goal is to end on a high note."
