June 27, 2016 | Gymnastics
ATHENS, Ga. -- Former Georgia gymnast Brittany Rogers will compete at the Gymnastics Canada Selection Camp this week in hopes of returning to Olympic competition for the second-consecutive Summer Games.
Competition will take place in Gatineau, Quebec on Monday evening and Wednesday morning, and the final announcement of the five Canadian team members will be made on Thursday, June 30. In total, 11 gymnasts were invited to compete at the camp.
Rogers, who took individual NCAA champion honors on bars this spring, competed at the 2012 London Olympics and helped Canada reach the team final for the first time ever in a non-boycotted Olympics.
The Coquitlam, British Columbia native completed her four years in Athens this April after helping guide the Gymdogs to their third Super Six in four years. While at UGA, Rogers accumulated 10 All-America honors, three All-SEC nods and 37 event titles. She also recorded Georgia's first perfect 10 since 2010 with her vault on March 6 this year at UCLA.
Her career numbers are equally impressive, as her 592.0375 career points on bars represented the third-best total all-time at Georgia, and she also finished ninth all-time on beam (544.8273 points) and 11th in total points (1,872).
The competition will be streamed on GymCan.tv and live results will be available courtesy of Gymnastics Canada here.
