TULSA, Okla. - Fresh off its exciting win against USC on Friday, the seventh-ranked Georgia men's tennis team is set to face No. 2 overall seed North Carolina on Sunday in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 NCAA Championships.

The Bulldogs advanced thanks to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory against the Trojans, sending the team to its 30th all-time quarterfinal appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina, who has set a program record with 28 wins this season, moved to the quarterfinal round by knocking off Mississippi State, 4-0, on Friday. The winner of Sunday's matchup will face the winner of the contest between No. 3-seed UCLA and No. 11-seed Oklahoma on Monday at 4 p.m. CT in the semifinals.

THE SERIES
Georgia owns a 12-7 lead in the all-time series against the Tar Heels, with the last meeting coming in 2014. The two programs have met twice in the NCAA Tournament — Georgia took a 4-1 victory in the 2012 NCAA Round of 16, while North Carolina defeated the Bulldogs, 4-2, in the 2014 Round of 16.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
North Carolina entered the 2016 NCAA Championships as the No. 3 ranked team in the country following a remarkable 2016 season. The Tar Heels have won each match in this year's NCAA Tournament by 4-0 scores, with their last loss coming to No. 1 Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. North Carolina, who is in search of its first trip to the NCAA Semifinals, is making its third-straight and fourth overall appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinal Round. North Carolina features No. 26-ranked Brayden Schnur at the No. 1 singles court and 28th-ranked Ronnie Schneider at the No. 2 position.

GEORGIA'S NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
Georgia is 104-33 all-time in the NCAA Tournament with six titles, most recently in 2008. The Bulldogs' six NCAA National Championships ranks fourth all-time among collegiate men's tennis programs. In addition to winning six NCAA championships, Georgia has reached the NCAA final seven other times. This is the Bulldogs' 38th appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

THREE BULLDOGS EARN NCAA INDIVIDUAL BIDS
Austin Smith, Wayne Montgomery and Ben Wagland earned bids to the singles and doubles portion of the NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 25-30. Smith and Montgomery earned at-large bids in singles, with Smith earning a spot among the top 16 seeds. The senior will pair up with Wagland in doubles competition.

LEAGUE PERFECTION
The Bulldogs finished the 2016 SEC slate with a perfect 12-0 regular season record -- Georgia's first perfect league mark since its 2007 NCAA National Championship squad accomplished that feat. Georgia also earned its 30th regular season title and 39th overall SEC Championship in 2016.
