Three Canadians Qualify For Rio Games

ATHENS, Ga. --- Three swimmers with ties to the Georgia program qualified for the Olympics during the Canadian Trials that concluded on Sunday.
Brittany MacLean, who completed her eligibility last month, won the 200-, 400- and 800-meter freestyle to punch her ticket for the Rio Games. MacLean also represented Canada in the 2012 Olympics.
Chantal Van Landeghem, who redshirted this year and will return as a senior in 2016-17, won the 50-meter freestyle and came in second in the 100-meter freestyle.
Signee Javier Acevedo won the 100-meter backstroke.
Earlier, Matias Koski was nominated to Finland's Olympic team. Koski competed in the 2012 Games as well.
The United States Olympic Trials will be held June 26-July 3 in Omaha, Neb. Georgia has more than 40 current, former and incoming swimmers qualified for the Trials.
