Oosterbaan Named SEC Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga.—Georgia men's tennis player Paul Oosterbaan was named SEC Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

The Kalamazoo, Michigan native led Georgia to a pair of wins over ranked conference opponents this past weekend. The Bulldogs downed No. 50 Mississippi State Friday afternoon 5-2, before defeating 49th-ranked Alabama on Sunday 6-1.

Oosterbaan went 2-0 on the weekend in singles action, defeating two ranked opponents. The redshirt-sophomore took down Mississippi State's Rishab Agarwal, who was ranked No. 74 and riding an eight-match win streak at the time, 6-2, 6-4, He followed that by handily beating Alabama's Becker O'Shaughnessy 6-0, 6-2.

Oosterbaan teamed up with freshman Jan Zielinski in doubles for one victory against Alabama's duo of O'Shaughnessey and Grayson Goldin.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET with a trip to Nashville, Tennessee to face the Vanderbilt Commodores.
