ATHENS, Ga. - The Georgia women's tennis program announced on Wednesday the signing of Katarina Jokic to a national letter of intent to attend UGA and compete with the Bulldogs next season.
A native of Zrenjanin, Serbia, she has spent time training at TK Mladost in Banja Luka. She has had a career high ITF Junior ranking of No. 36 along with No. 604 on the WTA singles rankings. Currently, she is 15-3 in ITF pro circuit events this year including winning a pair of $10K tournaments in Prokuplje, Serbia and Sibenik, Croatia. Also, Jokic has a straight set win over the former number one ranked junior in the world. Katarina is the daughter of Nikola and Gordono Jokic.
"Katarina is an outstanding addition to the Bulldog family," said associate head coach Drake Bernstein. "We are extremely excited to get her in Red and Black next August. We feel that she will play a major role in helping our team continue to fight for conference and national championships.
"Of course, we are excited about what she will bring on the court, but we also know that she will contribute positively to our team's success off the court as well. She is mature, values her education, and is eager to be a Bulldog -- three characteristics that we place a high value on at Georgia."
