Magill Society Continues To Grow
January 19, 2016 | General
ATHENS, Ga. - In only four months, the Magill Society, the leadership giving organization of The Georgia Bulldog Club and the Georgia Athletic Association, has grown to over 140 members.
"We are extremely grateful to everyone that has stepped up and supported our efforts through the Magill Society," said J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Greg McGarity. "We are off to a fantastic start because of the generosity of so many."
Since the Magill Society officially launched in September 2015, members have committed over $12.5 million in cash and pledges.
"The success we've witnessed through the Magill Society, while impressive, comes as no surprise to our team," said Associate Athletics Director for Development Monica Lebron. "We have the most loyal and supportive fan base in college athletics and we were confident that they would rally behind our endeavors."
Donations to the Magill Society are being used to fund the Georgia Excellence campaign with the first component being the Indoor Athletics Facility. Construction on the IAF began in late December and is on track to be completed in January 2017. The official groundbreaking ceremony for the IAF will be held prior to the UGA Athletic Association Winter Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, February 16th at 3 p.m. To follow the construction progress of the IAF, visit http://gado.gs/iaftimelapse
"The Indoor Athletics Facility will have a transformational impact on our athletics facilities complex here at the University of Georgia," added McGarity. "We are excited for the progress that has been made and for what the future holds."
Due to the tremendous response to the Magill Society, The Georgia Bulldog Club will continue to offer bonus priority points for all pledges. The bonus priority point incentive was set to end on February 15th, but will be extended for all pledges moving forward. Donors who make commitments of $25,000-$99,999 will receive 1.5 points per dollar given, and those who contribute $100,000 and above will receive 2 points per dollar given.
"Our team will work tirelessly to grow the Magill Society and we know that the Bulldog Nation will continue to answer the call for continued support," added Lebron.
