Vreeland, Locus, Flickinger Secure Medals At World University Games

GWANGJU, South Korea --- Former Georgia swimmer Shannon Vreeland earned her second gold medal of the World University Games on Monday as she claimed the title in the women's 100-meter freestyle.

Vreeland, who completed her college eligibility after leading Georgia to its second straight NCAA title in 2014, won Monday's race with a time of 54.39. Fellow American Abbey Weitzeil touched second in 54.53.

Earlier in the games, Vreeland and Maddie Locus helped the United States win the women's 400-meter freestyle relay with a World University Games record of 3:38.12. Locus completed her eligibility following the 2015 campaign.

Also earlier in the Games, rising senior Hali Flickinger took third in the women's 400-meter individual medley with a time of 4:40.54.
