ATHENS——University of Georgia senior gymnast Brittany Rogers has been chosen to represent Canada at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Rogers has spent recent months in Canada training for the World Championships, which is the first qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games. The Coquitlam, British Columbia, native will return to UGA in December leading up to her senior season with the Gymdogs.
"Earning a spot on Canada's World Championship Team is an incredible accomplishment and a tremendous honor for Brittany," said UGA head coach Danna Durante. "As Gymdog and NCAA fans have become accustomed to seeing, she is a tremendous competitor and I know she is eager to take that same fire and passion back to the world stage. We are so excited for Brittany and look forward with anticipation as she continues her journey with the Canadian National Team and the University of Georgia Gymdogs."
Rogers is a six-time All-American and two-time SEC Champion (bars and beam in 2013). She was the NCAA runner-up on bars as a junior in 2015 and has competed all four events during her UGA career. She also competed in the 2012 Olympics in London.
The 46th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be held Oct. 23-Nov. 1 in Glasgow, Scotland.
