ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer freshman Becca Rasmussen turned in a strong performance with the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team during its recent stay at the 10 Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain. The Golden, Colo., native subbed into the team’s first game, then started and played all 90 minutes in the final two outings.

After the U.S. trailed Sweden 3-0 in the opener on March 8, Rasmussen got the squad on the board in the 65th minute as she one-timed a cross past the keeper from six yards out. The United States would go on to tie Sweden, 3-3, via three second-half goals. After earning the starting spot for the second game, Rasmussen did not leave the field in the team’s final two games against Norway and France – each close 1-0 losses.

The U-18 WNT will next convene in mid-May for domestic training camp.

Rasmussen – who is a member of head coach Steve Holeman’s 2014 signing class – enrolled early and is already attending UGA. She has national team camp experience at every level from U-14 through U-18, and has played in the W-League with the Colorado Rush. She was the No. 31-ranked player in the 2014 class by TopDrawerSoccer.com, and was named a Youth All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2013.

Rasmussen will rejoin her teammates as they continue the spring season on March 29 against Wake Forest and Mercer.
