Seiler Earns Second Team All-America Honors
November 09, 2014 | Soccer
ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer midfielder Gabby Seiler has been named a second team All-America selection by College Sports Madness, the organization announced Sunday.
It marks the first All-America honor of Seiler's career and Georgia's first since 2007. In all, she becomes the third Georgia player to earn the honors, joining Stephanie Yarem (NSCAA/Soccer Times/SoccerBuzz, 1997; SoccerBuzz, 1998) and Carrie Patterson (NSCAA/SoccerBuzz, 2007).
Seiler's nod comes after she received first team All-SEC honors last week. She also was on the fan ballot for the MAC Hermann Trophy semifinal round. The Hermann Trophy is considered the Heisman of college soccer.
The Peachtree City native leads the Bulldogs with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points, breaking the UGA school record for consecutive games with a point (9) and a goal (5) earlier in 2014. Her nine assists place her third all-time in UGA history for a single season and just three off the school record. She also leads Georgia with four game-winning goals.
Georgia will learn its NCAA Tournament fate during Monday's selection show, set for 4:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
