Georgia Finishes Fall Season with Perfect Day in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The University of Georgia women's tennis team put in a perfect performance for the second day in a row as they closed out the College of Charleston Fall Classic and the 2014 fall season with an unblemished record in both singles and doubles play at the Patriots Point Tennis Center on Sunday.
Facing off against Marshall University in doubles and the College of Charleston in singles, the Bulldog ladies fought hard over the course of seven matches to ensure that they would be carrying some much needed momentum into the start of the spring season.
The Bulldogs were buoyed early on in the day by back-to-back doubles victories from the pairings of junior Silvia Garcia and freshman Mariana Gould, and sophomore Caroline Brinson and freshman Ellen Perez. Garcia and Gould won 8-7(3) over Marshall's Derya Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya, while Brinson and Perez played to an 8-5 win over Thundering Herd tandem Kai Broomfield and Marjia Bogicevic.
Georgia was also perfect in singles play, racking up five straight victories over the College of Charleston as Garcia, Brinson, Gould, Perez, and freshman Laura Patterson each won their respective matches against the hosts.
Per their efforts, Brinson and Perez were crowned Flight 2 champions in doubles, while all five of the aforementioned Bulldogs made a clean sweep of the individual titles in each of the five singles flights.
"We ended our fall season on a good note in Charleston today," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "Our players did a great job this weekend and we are excited about continuing to work and get ready for the dual match season."
The Georgia ladies will now await the start of the spring, dual match season, which is set to commence with the ITA Kickoff Weekend match against Samford on Jan. 24, 2015 in Athens.
