Georgia Finishes 14th At Stanford Intercollegiate
October 19, 2014 | Women's Golf
STANFORD, California --- The Georgia women's golf team shot 300 in Sunday's final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate, leaving the Bulldogs' in 14th place in their final tournament of the fall.
"We were missing that one or two good rounds that we have been getting almost the entire fall," head coach Josh Brewer said. "For most of the fall, we've had one or two or even three people around of under par. For some reason, that didn't happen today."
Harang Lee led Georgia with a 2-over 73, her third consecutive 73 on the weekend. The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 75s from Amira Alexander and Manuela Carbajo Ré and a 77 by Sammi Lee. Mary Ellen Shuman posted an 80.
Overall, Alexander tied for 31st at 216, Carbajo Ré tied for 43rd at 218, Harang Lee tied for 47th at 219, Sammi Lee finished 71st at 229 and Shuman tied for 88th at 242.
"We didn't play the way we thought we would today," Brewer said. "We wanted to play better. Still, I know the progress we've made since August. We're really improved. A day like today should motivate us to work a little harder over the next four months to get ready for the spring. That's when it really counts the most."
No 3. Stanford and No. 6 Southern Cal were tied atop the team leaderboard after 54 holes, while UCLA's Bronte Law completed her wire-to-wire victory in the individual competition.
Georgia will return to action in February when the Bulldogs compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic from Feb. 15-17.
