Bulldogs Picked To Win SEC Title Again

ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 3 Georgia men’s tennis team was tabbed to win the Southeastern Conference title in a vote of the league’s 13 head coaches released Thursday afternoon by the SEC office.

Georgia swept the 2013 regular-season and tournament titles before advancing to the NCAA semifinals with a 26-5 (11-1) record. The Bulldogs return the top five singles players from that squad.

The preseason coaches poll is compiled using a 13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 tally. Each vote counts as one point. Georgia ended with 155 total points, followed by Tennessee (137), Texas A&M (132), Kentucky (108), and Florida (105) to round out the top five.

Georgia leads the SEC in overall conference titles (36) and regular-season crowns (27).

The Bulldogs will kick off the spring campaign this weekend at the MLK Invitational on the campus of Georgia Tech. The dual match slate will begin next weekend as Georgia is set to host a leg of the ITA Kickoff Jan. 25-26 with Columbia, Stanford, and Washington making the trip to Athens with a bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on the line.
