Worley Inducted Into USA Gymnastics Hall Of Fame

ATHENS-----Former University of Georgia gymnast Shayla Worley was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Thursday as a member of the 2007 U.S. Women's Artistic Gymnastics World Championship Team.

Worley and six of her teammates were honored at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony held in conjunction with the 2013 U.S. Championships in Hartford, Conn. Joining Worley were Shawn Johnson, Alicia Sacramone, Anastasia Liukin, Sam Peszek, Ivana Hong and Bridget Sloan.

Worley and her teammates won the team gold medal in Stuttgart, Germany, which was the second gold ever for the USA and the first World Championships team outside of the United States. The U.S. Women's Team won a total of seven medals total - four gold, two silver and one bronze - from the World Championships, and the U.S. women qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games with their performance.

As a senior in 2013, Worley helped lead the Gym Dogs to the NCAA Super Six. She was named Southeast Region Gymnast of the Year and earned All-America honors on bars and beam. The Orlando, Fla., native also shared the SEC beam title.

The 2013 U.S. Championships will air Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. on the NBC Sports Network and Saturday and Sunday on NBC.
