ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia rookie goalkeeper Jill Maloney played all three games in goal as her Republic of Ireland U-19 team competed in the UEFA Championships Elite Phase last week in Amsterdam. The Alpharetta native helped the squad into this round by winning its group in the first round of qualifying back in October.

Maloney and Ireland went 2-1 on the trip after entering as the lowest seed in their group, posting a 1-0 win over Italy and a 2-1 win over the Netherlands before suffering a 2-0 loss to Sweden and just narrowly missing out on the Championship round.

Maloney is a mid-year enrollee with the Bulldogs, having joined the team in January following early graduation. An Alpharetta, Ga., product, Maloney was a standout at Alpharetta High School and played club soccer with GSA Phoenix. She also has W-League experience as the back-up keeper for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2012.

Maloney had participated in 38 international competitions in 24 countries at the time of her signing with the Bulldogs. Additionally, she has played against four English Premier League professional teams and earned her first cap against England in the U-19 Tri-Nations Tournament in 2010, at just 15 years old. With the U.S. National Team, Maloney participated in Training Center events in 2010 and 2011, and was a member of the U-15 National Team Player Pool in 2010 and the U-14 Girls National Team in 2009.
