Bulldogs Move Up to No. 5

ATHENS, Ga.—The Georgia women's tennis team is ranked fifth in the country in the latest ITA rankings released Tuesday.

Georgia jumped USC and Stanford while North Carolina took the top spot after winning ITA Team Indoors last weekend.

Georgia also has five players in the latest singles rankings, and four pairs in the latest doubles rankings.

Sophomore Lauren Herring's ranked remains No. 8, while Kowase moved up three spots to No. 15. This season, Herring is 22-3, including 10 wins against ranked opponents. Kowase sports a 22-6 record.

Freshman Silvia Garcia cracked into the rankings at No. 100. The Bulldog freshman went 3-0 in singles last weekend at the ITA National Team Indoors.

Both Kate Fuller and Makenzie Craft remained ranked in singles, coming in at No. 96 and No. 117, respectively.

In doubles, Fuller and Garcia shot up to No. 13 after starting the season 7-0 record. Last weekend, the duo beat No. 16 Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton of UCLA, 8-4. Fuller is also ranked No. 18 with Herring after having accumulated a 12-5 record during the fall.

Kowase and junior Lilly Kimbell remain in the rankings at No. 33, and freshman Mia King and Fuller are No. 49

Georgia will return home to square off with in-state rival Georgia Tech on Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon. The match will be held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and admission will be free
