ATHENS, Ga. --- Three members of the Georgia soccer team have been honored by the national College Sports Madness Web site as all-conference selections, the organization announced. Forwards Madeline Barker and Marion Crowder as well as defender Torri Allen were each chosen to the All-SEC second team.
The most recent awards come after Crowder and Allen were named All-SEC by the Southeastern Conference office last week, as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
Barker turned in the best season of career as a senior, as the Atlanta native tallied a career-high eight goals and three assists for 19 points - second-most on the team. She has started 19 of 20 games on the year, leading the team with 62 shots while her three game-winners rank second on the squad.
Crowder emerged as a top offensive weapon for Georgia as a rookie this season, starting 19 of 20 games with a team-high 11 goals and one assist for 23 points. The Madison, Miss., native sits just one score shy of tying All-American Carrie Patterson's school record for goals by a freshman set back in 2006, while Crowder's seven game-winning goals rank second all-time for a single season in UGA history.
Allen has started all 20 games for Georgia and has logged over 1,800 minutes of action on the Bulldog back line as a senior. She was instrumental in Georgia's record-setting shutout streak of 652 minutes earlier this season, a scoreless run that came in as the second-longest in school history, and has helped the squad to 11 shutouts - just one off the program record in that category. The Stafford, Va., native also has three assists on the offensive end, as well as two defensive saves.
The Bulldogs (12-7-1) are awaiting today's NCAA selection announcement as the field of 64 will be revealed in a live stream on NCAA.com at 4:30 p.m. ET.
