ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia soccer team on Tuesday released its schedule for the upcoming 2012 season - a slate highlighted by the Bulldogs' inaugural meetings with SEC additions Texas A&M and Missouri and a total of 11 games against 2011 NCAA Tournament participants. The team will play nine home dates at the UGA Soccer Stadium.

"In order to prepare for the rigors of the SEC, we have put together a competitive non-conference schedule," said head coach Steve Holeman, who enters his third season at the helm. "We have maximized the use of our seven non-conference games in order to give us a chance to develop a strong RPI. We feel that we have an ideal schedule throughout the season with a great mix of home and away weekends. The girls are excited to get underway with our 2012 season and especially look forward to playing at home. There is nothing quite like playing in front of 2,500 fans in Athens on a Friday night."

"We are thrilled to add Texas A&M and Missouri to the SEC," Holeman said. "The addition of these established women's soccer programs gives us a legitimate chance to become the top soccer conference in the country. With nine SEC teams in last year's NCAA Tournament, the conference race will be even more exciting."

Georgia is coming off a trip to the NCAA second round in 2011 with an overall record of 13-7-2 (6-3-2 SEC) and a final ranking of No. 28 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll.

The Bulldogs open the 2012 season on Fri., Aug., 17 against UNC Greensboro, a squad coached by former Georgia assistant coach Steve Nugent. That kicks off a string of seven non-conference dates - three at home and four on the road - including trips to Lawrence, Kan., to meet Kansas and South Dakota State and to Orlando, Fla., to take on South Florida and 2011 national quarterfinalist Central Florida.

The Bulldogs conclude the non-conference slate against NCAA Tournament regular New Mexico on Sept. 7 in Athens.

Georgia opens the grueling SEC slate at home Sept. 14-16 vs. Vanderbilt and Arkansas, respectively. Other home conference games this season will include Missouri, LSU, Auburn, and Kentucky, with the meeting with the Wildcats on Sun., Oct. 14 marking the home finale and Senior Day. Georgia travels to Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Tennessee.

The 2012 SEC Championships is set for Oct. 29-Nov. 2 in Orange Beach, Ala.

Overall, Georgia will face four teams for the first time in program history (Texas A&M, Missori, South Dakota State, and New Mexico).
