ATHENS, Ga.--- The fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs bounced back from Friday's loss to beat the 63rd-ranked Auburn Tigers on Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-1.

Georgia (18-3, 8-2 SEC) came out strong to start the match by sweeping the doubles point over Auburn (8-10, 3-6 SEC). Kate Fuller and Nadja Gilchrist claimed the first win of the day by defeating Olivia Bennett and Plamena Kurteva 8-5 at No. 2. Just moments later at No. 3, the Bulldogs clinched the doubles point when Maho Kowase and Lilly Kimbell put away Jacqueline Kasler and Taylor Schreimann 8-4. Chelsey Gullickson and Alina Jerjomina completed the sweep by holding off the 36-ranked doubles team in the nation of Jen Pfeifler and Paulina Schippers 8-5.
"We played well today," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "I thought the doubles was really good, and it was a nice bounce back match for us. I just thought we played a really good, clean match. It was good to get another SEC win."
Georgia continued its confident play in singles as the Bulldogs lost a total of 10 games in the first four singles victories. Gullickson, ranked eighth in the nation, quickly downed 118th-ranked Pfeiler 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1. Jerjomina notched her third dual match victory of the season at No. 6 when she beat Schreimann 6-2, 6-2 to give Georgia a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs then capped off their fifth consecutive victory over Auburn when Gilchrist finished off Kurteva at No. 2 by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Kowase, ranked 50th, extended the Georgia lead to 5-0 when she convincingly defeated Kasler 6-0, 6-2. The victory was Kowase's ninth in her last ten matches. At No. 4 singles, Kimbell held off Schippers of Auburn in a hard fought 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) victory. The Tigers, however, refused to go winless on the day as Bennett won a tight 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 match over 80th-ranked Fuller at the No. 5 position.
The Georgia women's tennis team will play its final regular season match of the year next Saturday April 14th at 12:00 P.M against the 22nd-ranked Tennessee Volunteers. A senior day ceremony will be held prior to the match to honor seniors Gullickson and Gilchrist.
"Its going to be very emotional and very exciting. We have two great seniors, and we are looking forward to having a fantastic day on Saturday for them."
The match will be held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and admission is free.
