ATHENS, Ga--- The sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs trounced the 17^th-ranked Clemson Tigers 7-0 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.

"I think our team did a fantastic job today," said head coach Jeff Wallace. "It was really our best match top to bottom for all three doubles and all six singles. We really played great. Anytime you beat anybody 7-0 you know you've had a good day and to beat a team of the caliber of Clemson is a great thing for us at this point in the season."

Georgia (10-1) started off the day strong taking the doubles point by winning at all three positions. Maho Kowase and Lilly Kimbell stepped off the court first by defeating Monika Kochanova and Nelly Ciolkowski 8-2. With the win, the Georgia duo continued their perfect record together in dual matches this season. The Bulldogs then quickly won at No. 2 and No.1 by the same score of 8-3. Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring clinched the doubles point, taking down Jospia Bek and Beatrice Gumulya of Clemson. To finish off doubles, Georgia's Chelsey Gullickson and Nadja Gilchrist, ranked 11^th nationally, beat Klara Vyskocilova and Keri Wong of the Tigers.

The Bulldogs continued their strong play in singles as they quickly won the first set in all six matches. Ninth-ranked Gullickson bounced back from Friday's loss with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win over Bek. Gilchrist, ranked 125^th, returned to singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gumulya giving Georgia a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs clinched the match when 80^th-ranked Fuller notched a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kochanova. With the match already decided, Georgia capped off a highly successful day with three more wins. Kowase, ranked 44^th, captured her eighth win of the year against a nationally-ranked opponent defeating 78^th-ranked Ciolkowski 6-3, 6-2. She was quickly followed by 60^th-ranked Herring who overcame 55^th-ranked Wong 7-5, 7-5. To finish off the day Kimbell fought past Romy Kolzer of Clemson to win 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7).

This was Georgia's second consecutive win against Clemson, and it improves the Bulldogs record in the series to 23-19.

The Georgia women's tennis team returns to the courts next Friday to kick off SEC play against 26^th-ranked South Carolina at 2:30 p.m. All tennis matches are held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and admission is free.
