Baker Named To SEC Community Service Team

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia soccer goalkeeper Ashley Baker has been named to the SEC's Community Service team, according to a league announcement Tuesday morning. It marks the third straight such honor for Baker.
The SEC sponsors Community Service teams for all 21 league-sponsored sports. The initiative looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his or her community in superior service efforts.
The Lilburn native has volunteered her time in countless ways during her Bulldog career, most recently speaking to elementary school students about life as a college athlete, as well as organizing the team's efforts with Relay for Life - with the soccer team raising money as both a team and as individuals.
She has worked at a goalkeeping camp for children and volunteers with St. Mary's Hospital in Athens and with the local Boys and Girls Club.
Baker just completed her senior season and her third year as the full-time goalkeeper. In 2012 she started 19 games, logging 1,786 minutes while posting an impressive 0.830 save percentage and making 112 saves on her way to five shutout efforts. It was the first time she eclipsed the century-mark in saves for a season, and after finishing her career with 305 she now stands in fourth all-time at UGA.
