Georgia Soccer Q&A: Sophomore Alexa Newfield

ATHENS, Ga. ---- Georgia Soccer sophomore midfielder Alex Newfield played in all 21 games of her breakout freshman season. In addition to being tied for the team lead with eight goals, the Atlanta native broke the school record for most shots in a single season. Newfield opened up to Georgiadogs.com about herself and her goals for the 2011 season in this edition of the Georgia Soccer Q&A.
Q: What do you think it's going to take to make it to the NCAA tournament?
A: We definitely need to win our games against big opponents, especially those who competed in the tournament last year.
Q: If you weren't playing soccer, what other sport would you want to play?
A: I would want to play basketball, for sure.
Q: What's your favorite part about playing soccer?
A: Scoring a goal never gets old. I also love it when you get a perfect strike on the ball, there's nothing better than that.
Q: Why did you choose to play for UGA?
A: The campus and facilities were awesome and I was attracted to being on the first team to win a championship for the program.
Q: What are your personal goals for this season?
A: I want to assist and score as much as possible.
Q: When did you start playing soccer?
A: I started playing when I was three years old.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: My favorite food is queso, or really any Mexican food.
Q: What's your favorite movie?
A: Cool Runnings.
Q: What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
A: I don't have a nose bone.
Q: What are two words that you would use to describe yourself?
A: I would say passionate and competitive.
Q: What does it mean to you to be a Georgia Bulldog?
A: It means being a part of one of the biggest and best athletic programs in the nation and playing for the best fans in the nation!
