Fans have the opportunity to ask questions to either a Georgia gymnastics coach or a student-athlete. Here is the latest installment of "Ask The Gym Dogs." To ask a question for next week, click here.
Lee from Gainesville, Ga.: Do any of the Gym Dogs practice Martial Arts? With the strength and flexibility these girls possess, they would be outstanding Martial Artists if they chose to practice a form.
Assistant Coach Julie Clark: Hello Lee. Our girls are not practicing any martial arts, but they did get to break a board and learn a couple techniques last fall. They are strong, flexible, and focused from the many years of gymnastics training. Gymnastics is a sport that can carry over many techniques, but overall their hard work andgymnastics training has prepared them to be so good.
Breannafrom Swansea, S.C.: I know Alpha Factor designs your leos but how do you get them to put Georgia on them?
Assistant Coach Julie Clark: Actually we are with Dreamlight Leotard Company now. We propose a design and ask their designers to create a way to put Georgia on them and then the leotards are custom designed.
Heather from Buford, Ga.: What days/times do the Gym Dogs practice? Is it open practice that the public can come watch?
Assistant Coach Julie Clark: Hello Heather. Thank you so much for your interest in our practices already. Our practices at this time are voluntary: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:30-4:00 p.m. Starting Sept. 19 we will have mandatory practices at the same time, but the entire team will be practicing for sure. The practices are open to the public and can be viewed in the balcony upstairs. Please feel free to come and watch during any of those times listed above. We look forward to seeing you in the gym sometime this fall!
