ATHENS, Ga. --- Mookie DeMoss, who saw action in seven tournaments for Mercer last season, will be joining the Georgia men's golf team, according to an announcement Tuesday by Bulldogs coach Chris Haack.
DeMoss, a native of Duluth, will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs in the 2011-12 season as a sophomore.
DeMoss' best finish for the Bears came at the Bandon Dunes Invitational, where he came in 16th. He also carded a season-best 69 in that event. For the season, DeMoss had a stroke average of 75.5.
DeMoss is a graduate of Providence Christian Academy, where he played golf and basketball. He earned All-State honors in golf, captured region medalist honors and set school records for 9- and 18-hole scores and stroke average.
"We are happy that Mookie will be joining our team," Haack said. "He's an outstanding prospect who knows what it takes to compete at the college level. He also understands and appreciates the traditions of the Georgia golf program. We know he will work hard both on and off the course, and we believe he will be a great addition to our team."
Haack previously announced the signings of Nicholas Reach of Moscow, Pa., and twins Sam and Sepp Straka of Valdosta.
