LANCASTER, Mass. --- Former University of Georgia standout Michelle Betos is making her mark in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) as the goalkeeper for the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves.

Most recently, Betos helped the Breakers Reserves to a 0-0 tie with the Aztec U23s despite a total of 23 shots in the match. Betos’ squad is just two points behind the U23s in the current WPSL Northest Division standings with three games to play. The Reserves are next in action July 6 at SoccerPlus CT.

Betos has other experience after Georgia playing with the Atlnata Silverbacks of the United Soccer League (USL). While with the Bulldogs from 2006-09, the Queens, N.Y., native rewrote the record books, finishing her career in third all-time in saves (316) and shutouts (26) and second in wins (48). Her senior season she started all 22 games logging 1,929 minutes and holding opponents scoreless eight times including three straight over a span of 320:06.

About the Boston Aztecs: Boston Aztec fields two teams in the WPSL; the Boston Aztec Breakers Reserves and Boston Aztec U23. The Breakers Reserves are the reserve team to Women's Professional Soccer's Boston Breakers and won the 2010 WPSL National Championship in Dallas, Texas. The U23 team is a college-based team with players from Boston College, Boston University, Providence College and other national programs. Each team plays a 10-game season starting in early May through July.

About the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL): The WPSL is a 60-plus team national league with five conferences, making it the largest women's soccer league in the world. The league is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
