Three Bulldogs Honored By W-League

ATHENS, Ga. --- A trio of Georgia soccer players were singled out this week by the W-League, highlighted by rising junior Susannah Dennis' Player of the Week honor. Dennis' Atlanta Silverbacks teammates Jamie Pollock and Bailey Powell joined her on the Team of the Week.
Dennis, Pollock, and Powell helped the squad to three wins in three days on the road as the Silverbacks vaulted into first place in the Atlantic Division.
"When [Sooz] gets the ball in dangerous spots, good things are going to happen for us," head coach Chris Adams told USLsoccer.com. "She is such a good finisher that when she gets the ball close to goal I have quite a bit of confidence it's going to be a goal."
Dennis scored twice in the three wins, including the game-winner against Northern Virginia. Pollock also left her mark this week as she put home the decider vs. Virginia Beach, while Powell scored and helped the defense record the shutout in the Northern Virginia game.
The threesome will be back in Athens in time to kick off Georgia's official practice slate Aug. 3. The Bulldogs open the 2011 season Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. on the road at Furman.
