ATHENS, Ga. --- Eight golfers with ties to the University of Georgia will be participating in the Nationwide Tour's Stadion Classic at UGA beginning on Thursday.
Ex-Bulldogs Brendon Todd, Erik Compton, Paul Claxton, Matt McQuillan, Justin Bolli and Brian Harman will be joined by current Bulldogs Russell Henley and Harris English in the tournament, which runs Thursday through Sunday at the UGA Golf Course. Former Bulldogs Chip Beck and Bubba Watson served as the tournament's honorary co-chairmen in several kickoff events earlier in the week.
"We are extremely excited to have this golf tournament in Athens, and we're even more excited that so many Bulldogs are here," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "It's been great catching up with the guys this week, and we're looking forward to seeing how they play. Georgia has been blessed with such great players throughout the years. It's great to see so many guys wearing the red and black on the various tours. I think this week is a real celebration of Georgia golf. We're rooting for all of them and would love to see one of them with the trophy on Sunday."
An added benefit for the ex-Bulldogs in the field is that they are getting to use their old locker in the team's Boyd Golf Center.
